Statistics of Online Dating
Since I have only been been discussing about the dangers of online dating, I want to provide a post where you all can see statistics of online dating. This chart shows the statistics of the following; online dating statistics, what's more important on a first date, type of hair color most people are attracted to, girls prefer, guys prefer, and online dating facts. Some of these statistics have been really helpful in developing my essay. Although it does not give much statistics about dangers it, it does give a small percentage of sex offenders who use online dating sites.
Online Dating Can be Dangerous
I found another article on abcnews.com that discusses a few dangers and actual life situations that have happened to people due to online dating. This article also gives a little bit about what potential daters should do before they meet in person. I read that about 20% of daters lie about themselves. This is what I mean when I say that just about anyone can lie, even if its just a little lie. I was amazed to read that 40 million Americans use online dating services. When this comes to mind, I think about how many people are actual criminals using an online dating site to harm someone.
Woman Sues Match.com for $10 Million
This article that I found on nydailynews.com is about a woman names Mary Kay Beckman, who survived an attack by a man who she met on the online dating site, match.com. Beckman met Wade Ridley on September of 2010. They dated for just eight days before Beckman called of the relationship. About four months later Wade broke into Beckman's home and stabbed her with a butcher's knife. When Wade was arrested he said that his intentions weren't to hurt Beckman because he wanted to kill her. Later, Wade confessed to the killing of Anne Simenson, a woman who he also met online. This article really helped my main idea of people creating fake profiles to harm someone.

Online Dating Picture
This picture is an example of how just about anyone can fake who they are when they are online. In this picture you see that the guy is on "matchers.com" and he is married. As he is online, his profile for matchers.com is fake because his profile identifies him as sexy, single and wealthy. Also his picture on his profile looks nothing like him. This picture might not seem dangerous but it is because it displays an underlying message that anyone out there can simply create a person to get someone else. Unfortunately most of these fake online people are created to harm the real online people. I feel that this picture says a lot about online dating dangers.

"Online Dating Dangers" Video
For my first source I found a video that relates to my topic about the dangers of online dating. The video was originally in an ABC news broadcast. It discusses about how just about anyone can go online and date. What the people don't realize is who they're actually speaking to. Online dating sites are very dangerous because just about anyone can pretend to be someone they are not. For example in the video they show a girl who met a guy on eharmony.com.It happened to be that the person she met online wasn't real and was a sex offender. This is just one of the many dangers that can occur due to online dating. The video also discusses about some solutions to make online dating more reliable. But can they still be trusted after all?
